Andrea Kalin is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and founder of Spark Media, a production company dedicated to producing films with a social conscience. She has worked in over 25 countries, from disaster zones to remote tropical rain forests, bringing gripping human stories to the screen. Kalin’s superior storytelling gifts have earned her more than 85 industry awards and accolades, including: a Prime Time Emmy, and Golden Globe and WGA nominations. Kalin specializes in telling emotional stories that depict lives of courage, perseverance and dignity set against brutal injustices and seemingly insurmountable hardships. Some of her films dramatize lives that until now have been lost to history, while others address contemporary social issues. Kalin has also produced bilingual documentaries and advocacy programs for international organizations including the IDB, the World Bank, the IMF, PAHO, Unicef and UNFPA.

Carlos Barba Salva, is an award-winning (writer and director)Cuban filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Degree in Arts from the University of Oriente (Cuba). Author, among others, of "A hopefull woman" and "Song for Rachel", dedicated to Cuban actress Isabel Santos and to Cuban film "La Bella del Alhambra", respectively. He worked as an assistant director in films by Jorge Perugorría ("Strawberry and chocolate"), Humberto Solás, Arturo Sotto and Rebeca Chávez. He wrote, along with Enrique Pineda Barnet ("I am Cuba"), the screenplay "Mi Virgen de la Caridad", Official Selection of Unpublished Script of the 36th Havana Film Festival. He has received numerous recognitions for his work among which stand out Best Documentary at the Tiburon International Film Festival, San Francisco, Best Documentary Extreme Film Festival of Veracruz, 2017 Honorary Guamo Award.

Eduardo Chavez

Eduardo is the scion of two revolutionary families. He is the grandson of both the legendary civil rights activist Cesar Chavez (on his father’s side) and the Cuban revolutionary Max Lesnik (on his mother’s side). Eduardo attended Loyola Marymount University on a golf scholarship and played professional golf following college. He is currently a working actor in Los Angeles. His goal is to bring depth to the portrayal of Latino characters in film, television and other media. He is the co-founder of Latindia Studios.

Paul Espinosa is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and the President of Espinosa Productions, a film and video company specializing in documentary and dramatic films focused on the U.S.-Mexico border region. He has been involved with producing films for nearly 40 years. 
Espinosa’s films have won eight Emmys and Best of Festival awards from many film festivals around the world. His nationally broadcast films on PBS include: "The Lemon Grove Incident," "The U.S.-Mexican War: 1846-1848," "The Border," "...and the earth did not swallow him," "The Price of Renewal," "The Hunt for Pancho Villa," "Uneasy Neighbors," "Los Mineros," "In the Shadow of Law" and "Ballad of an Unsung Hero."

Ariel Escalante

Born in San Jose in 1984, he studied Political Science at the University of Costa Rica and Film at EICTV in Cuba. He was selected for a Creative Residence at Concordia University in Canada, and he received the Best Short Film Award at the Costa Rica International Film Festival for two of his films: "Musgo" and "A partir de ahora solo nosotros". 

 

His debut film “The Sound of Things”, premiered at the 38th Moscow International Film Festival and won the Kommersant Weekend Prize. It has screened in festivals such as Biarritz, FILMAR and Mar del Plata. He is currently developing his second feature film.
